(Lorenzo Estopa Photo) A total of 29 teams from various public and private schools are up for the top prize of the 1st Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran Futsal festival which will set on September 21 to 22, 2019 at the Bacolod City National High School gymnasium. Participating teams will see action in four categories: the Under 13 Boys, Under 17 Boys; Under 17 Girls and Ladies Open. Competing for the Under 13 Boys division includes the Education and Training Center School 1, Bata Elementary School 2, University of Negros Occcidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) Rams, Montevista Elementary School, Mabini Elementary School, R.A. Medel Sr. Elementary School, St. John’s Institute, Universal FC and Rizal Elementary School. Meanwhile, for the Under 17 Boys category are Handumanan National High School, Luisa Medel National High School, STI West Negros University and Bacolod City National High School (BCNHS). (Lorenzo Estopa Photo) For the Under 17 Girls category includes BCNHS, Sum-ag National High School, UNO-R, Ronnin Hiyas United F.C., Bata National High School Tigers FC, St. John’s Institute, Negros Occidental High School Panthers FC and Trinity Christian School.
And, for the Ladies Open category are UNO-R Rams, NOHS Panthers FC, BCNHS, USLS F.C., Bata National High School Tigers FC, FUTSGAL Lasalle, St. Scholastica’s Academy and M.G. Medalla Integrated School. For Familiaran, this is more on a fellowship where parents can enjoy watching their children play futsal. “This is one way to hone the skills of our youth who are sports buffs and enthusiasts. We are also providing them the opportunity to get the needed training and competition,” he added. Organizing the event is International Football referee Montano “Taroc” Mondia III, and former national men’s football standout Loreto “Tagoy” Kalalang. This event is also sanctioned by the Negros Occidental Football Association headed by Ricky Yanson Jr.
