11,560 more Bacolod kids get free school bags
A total of 11,560 Grades 1 to 6 pupils from seven public elementary schools in Bacolod have received free school bags with school supplies today [July 2]. Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, Councilors Cindy Rojas, Caesar Distrito, Bartolome Orola and Ayesha Joy Villaflor, who is the SK Federation president, Barangay Villamonte Captain Rommel Flores, Barangay Singcang-Airport Captain Rosinie Distrito, and Israel Salanga led the distribution of school bags to the pupils. These are the Jose R. Torres Elementary School in Brgy. Singcang-Airport –with 2,719 bags; Rizal Elementary School—2,231; ETCS (Education and Training Center School) 1—1,158 bags; ETCS 2—1,621 bags; ETCS 3—1,616 bags; C. L. Montelibano Elementary School in Brgy. Villamonte—1,622 bags; and Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr. Elementary School – 593 bags. At ETCS 1, after the ceremonial distribution, the pupils flocked to the mayor for “autograph signing.” Grade 4 pupil Adriana April Asiain said, “Thankful ko sang gin-write ni Mayor Bing sa notebook ko, naga-pasalamat ako sa iya sa bag kay para may butangan man ko sang mga projects kag gamit ko. Kag thank you sa pag-himo nya ni para sa amon.” Normy Canja, principal of Jose R. Torres Elementary School, for her part, said, “Dako gid akon pasalamat kay Mayor Bing sa pag-hatag sang school supplies sa mga estudyante kay nakita gid namon ang improvement sang mga eskwelahan, nakita gid namon kung diin gakadto ang amon taxes.” The city government is distributing a total of 68,000 free school bags with school supplies to Grades 1 to 6 public elementary pupils of Bacolod. There are 46 public elementary schools in Bacolod City and the distribution will continue in the coming days. Last Friday [June 29] Leonardia, Rep. Greg Gasataya, and Councilors Caesar Distrito and Bartolome Orola led the distribution of 2,923 school bags to Banago ES 1 and 2 pupils. On the same day Leonardia and Councilors Cindy Rojas, Caesar Distrito, Em Ang, and Renecito Novero led the distribution of 3,415 school bags to Bata ES 1 and 2 pupils. “We are happy to see the enthusiasm of the pupils.
