Bacolod Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran joins the officers and members of Federations of Senior Citizens Associations of Bacolod City, Inc. (FSCAB) lead by Edgardo Superticioso, President during the Thanksgiiving Mass held at Model Senior Citizens Center , Brgy. 16, today February 18, together with Rev. Fr. Felix P. Pasquin, Officiating Priest and Councilor Cano Tan.
Grade One pupils with their teachers from the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos visit the Office of the Vice Mayor , as part of their educational trip at Bacolod City Government Center guided by the City Tourism staff.

Thus said Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran in his message inspiring the four hundred sixty-nine couples who were married today at the Bacolod Government Center, February 14, 2017, a Valentine’s Day, in a Mass Wedding ceremony officiated by Mayor Evelio Leonardia. According to City Civil Registrar Atty. Hermilo Pauyon, the event coincides with the observance of the Civil Registration Month. There will be tokens, cakes, wines and a photo booth provided for the couples to make this event a very memorable one. Other City Government Officials witnessing the said event were Councilors Cindy Rojas, Bart Orola, Ricardo Tan and Wilson Gamboa, Jr., and Mark Steven Mayo from the Office of Congressman Greg Gasataya on his behalf. Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia sworn into office Kagawad Lauren Thea Marie Bentinganan of Brgy. 31 to take the place of former Kagawad Joseph Matthew Bentinganan who migrated to Australia. Office of the Vice Mayor 09 February 2017 VICE MAYOR FAMILIARAN CONGRATULATE GRADUATES & TRAINERS Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran congratulates the 8th batch of trainees of Basic Computer Literacy Training conducted by the Bacolod City Public Library BCPL), during their graduation rites conducted at the City Lib today, February 9, 2017. Familiaran also congratulated and thanked all the people behind BCPL in putting together this laudable feat. The on-going project of the BCPL spearheaded by Librarian III Greta Memoria and Librarian I trainer / instructor Remia Quebrar aims to deliver basic inputs on computer literacy to out-of-school youth, unemployed and senior citizens of Bacolod. This is to give them the opportunity to learn basic computer training for free, Memoria said. Meanwhile, citations were made during the graduation. Leadership award went to Roberto Yusay who was also cited as the oldest participant together with Nenita Caña. Perfect Attendance citations went to Caña together with Mylen Paragsa and Mitchlle Samorillo. Impressions awards went to Caña, Samorilla and Camenia Quibrar. Jack Wanky, today February 7, 2017 at the BCPO compound. Oplan Bakbak is a drive to intensify anti-criminality operations of the city police. this follows after a series of shooting incidents occurred in Bacolod. The operations include enhancement of beat patrol and checkpoints operations to prevent the increase of crimes. Oplan Bakbak is composed of personnel from different units of BCPO, Chief Wanky said. OFFICE OF THE VICE MAYOR 03 February 2017 BJMP LAUNCH D.A.R.E. PROGRAM IN SCHOOL Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Negros Island Region(BJMP-NIR) launched Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) Program initially at Jose Torres Elementary School in Brgy. Singcang-Ariport in Bacolod today February 3, 2017. The activity was attended by parents, students and teachers. Jail Superintendent Larry Fuentes, BJMP-NIR Provincial Administrator said the activity is in sync with the MASA MASID (MamamayangAyaw Sa AnomalyaMamamayangAyaw Sa IligalnaDroga) program recently launched by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to fight corruption, illegal drugs and criminality. “We go down to schools in order to start drug abuse prevention as early as possible,” Fuentes said. Superintendent Amelito Fuentes, BJMP-NIR Assistant Regional Director for Administration, on the other said that BJMP’s role is to custody and rehabilitate in-mates. “We take this initiative to strengthen the national government’s effort in combating drug abuse down from the school level.” He added that as of January 2017, inmates in NIR totals to 6,456 and 3,154 of which are drug-related. In Bacolod City, Brgy. Taculing jail has 854 inmates in which 551 are drug-related. Meanwhile in Handumanan male inmates, there are 164 are drug-related cases out of 543 inmates. Female jail inmates on the other ahnd has 123 are drug-related cases from a total of 163 inmates. Bacolod Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, who was an invited guest speaker, addressed the parents who were present to closely monitor their children. “Parents’ role play a vital part in a child’s well-being,” Vice Mayor said. Moreover, Familiaran congratulated the teachers of JR Torres Elem Sch. spearheaded by their Principal Normy Canja being the pioneer school to hold the lecture. The said activity was the first part of the four-module lectures which will be done in three more Fridays at the same school. Today’s lecturer was Chief Inspector Ruth Estales who talked on Drugs and its Ill Effects and Parenting.# |
